Pennsylvania Quilts II: Patterns and Variations

An Exhibit of Antique Quilts from Packwood House Museum Collection

June 12 - October 13, 2012

The most recent exhibit in Packwood's series of quilt shows, 2012's "Pennsylvania Quilts II" examined the collection based on patterns, including stars, squares, rectangles, triangles, curves, flowers, and one-patch patterns. The Kelly Gallery featured more than 30 quilts and included in-depth discussions on each of the variations shown, with an additional 50 quilts artfully displayed throughout the historic house museum.

Pennsylvania Quilts: Studies in Color

A Century of Antique Quilts from the Packwood House Museum Collection

June 9 - October 24, 2009

The Packwood House Museum has an outstanding collection of more than 200 Pennsylvania quilts that date from 1813 through the 1930s. Most of this fabulous collection was donated to the museum by the late Robert Glover Shoemaker, a local antiques dealer who loved Pennsylvania quilts. Packwood's 2009 exhibit, "Pennsylvania Quilts: Studies in Color," shown here in the Kelly Gallery, featured approximately 40 quilts that demonstrate the transition from early English to late Pennsylvania German aesthetics.
